How to Create a Sigil for Any Intention

How to Create a Sigil for Any Intention

All spiritual systems throughout time have used symbols as a means of communication and communion with the beyond, no matter what that “beyond” looks like in any particular practice. Famed psychologist, Carl Jung, devoted years of study to symbolism and how it works in the human psyche. Our brains literally make meaning of the world through imagery. It goes without saying that creating your own symbolic language can have a deep impact on your own inner world and the way you interact and transact with the universe.

A sigil is a magical symbol that corresponds with a particular intent. Modern chaos magicians use a system of turning a phrase into a symbol that we will outline for you below. This formula has been a quick, effective form of magic for thousands and thousands of people around the world. So, let’s get to it and create a sigil together!

1. Create your statement of intent in the present tense and make it specific.

Example: I’m attracting an extra five hundred dollars in my bank account this month.

2. Remove all the vowels from the statement and cross out any repeating letters. Using the above statement, you would be left with the following:

m trcng n x fv hd ls bk

3. Using the remaining letters, build a symbol that resonates for you. Make sure it really has “the juice.”

You can add a little flair by adding some dots or serifs - whatever strikes your fancy.

4. Now, fix your attention on the sigil. Impress this image into your mind’s eye. The key is to strive to forget what the original intent was word-for-word and impress just the image of the symbol with as much energy as possible.

Some people like to burn the symbol to “fire” it, others use different methods. Safely burning it tends to be our favorite method. Once that’s done, you can put the symbol in your artwork and your spellwork. The idea is that anyone who sees that charged symbol is adding to its power over time.

So, now it’s your turn. Create a statement of intent as if it’s already happening and create your own unique sigil.
